Bloomberg Poll: Clinton 33% to Sanders 24%

The latest poll by Bloomberg has Hillary Clinton in the lead over Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?

  • Hillary Clinton – 33%
  • Bernie Sanders – 24%
  • Joe Biden – 25%
  • Other – 3%

Clinton is still the candidate to beat for the Democrats. However, Sanders performed very well in this poll and was within 9 percent of Clinton, a decent number when you compare it to the polls that had him over 20 percent behind. Joe Biden tallied 25 percent in this vote, ahead of Sanders, but he hasn’t officially announced a run for president, and it seems unlikely that he will. When Biden backs out, Sanders must capture as many of those voters as he can if he wants to dent Clinton’s lead and overtake her as the top candidate for the Democrats.

In recent weeks, Clinton has started to take a stance on important issues, something she avoided doing in the past. This has boosted her popularity in the polls and helped her win over voters who were on the fence. One of the biggest criticisms of Clinton is her career politician status and the fact that she largely avoids discussing important issues out of fear of hurting her campaign. Yesterday she took a stand against big pharmaceutical and insurance companies and a few weeks before that she published a campaign finance reform platform.
