Carson and Clinton Win out in Louisiana Primary Polls
The latest poll for Louisiana by WWL-TV and Clarus has revealed that Ben Carson and Hillary Clinton are in the lead for their respective parties.
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 57%
- Joe Biden – 22%
- Bernie Sanders – 7%
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Ben Carson – 23%
- Donald Trump – 19%
- Jeb Bush – 10%
- Marco Rubio – 9%
- Carly Fiorina – 7%
Carson officially surpassed Donald Trump in a major poll. For several months, Trump has led the Republicans and dominated almost every poll. In this poll, he lost to Carson by 4 percent, a respectable margin considering how strong of a lead he held previously. Carson is seen by many as a legitimate candidate, but most Republicans feel as if Marco Rubio is the proper candidate to lead the party heading into 2016.
Clinton led the Democrats. However, the most surprising statistic was Bernie Sanders receiving only 7 percent of the total vote. His platform isn’t popular in Louisiana, where the term socialist reminds locals of the scary days of socialism and communism. Joe Biden polled very well in the state, but he still hasn’t officially announced a presidential run and it seems unlikely that he will out of fear of upsetting his party and because he doesn’t want to face the well-oiled Clinton campaign machine.
