Clinton Beats Sanders in Iowa
Iowa always creeps into the spotlight during elections. The latest poll by Quinnipiac University has revealed that Hillary Clinton holds a respectable lead over her opponent Bernie Sanders.
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 51%
- Bernie Sanders – 42%
Sanders has managed to close the gap. In some recent polls, Clinton had grown her lead over Sanders by 20-30 percent. Clinton’s campaign is in full momentum and she continues to attach herself to many of the major issues, like gun control, African-American social issues, and terrorism. She has vocally supported Muslims and Syrian refugees, but is also firm on taking a stance against ISIS. For moderate liberals who want a Republican on foreign policy, Clinton is the right choice.
However, not all Democrats are interested in a moderate liberal. Sanders offers a much more progressive platform that focuses on worker’s rights, equality, and domestic issues. He is no pushover when it comes to foreign policy, but Sanders would focus a lot of his attention on the United States domestic problems. Sanders is polling decently on the national stage and in specific states throughout the country. If he wants to topple Clinton and win the nomination, he will need to dent her campaign and expose her on issues that she is uncomfortable taking a stance on.
