Clinton Builds 12 Point Lead on Trump
The latest general election poll by ABC News / The Washington Post has placed Hillary Clinton 12 points ahead of Donald Trump.
Which presidential candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 51%
- Donald Trump – 39%
This is the first poll where Clinton has built a respectable leader over Trump. These are the types of leads we are expecting to see Clinton maintain as the election approaches. She continues to play a patient game, avoiding the spotlight, and she has yet to get tangled up in Trump’s web of insults. A Clinton victory is an extremely plausible outcome and something that will more than likely happen if she sticks to her moderate game plan.
Trump seems unable to capture the momentum he enjoyed early on. Voters seem to be getting tired of his message. While the racist and far right-wing votes are still flocking to him, he has been unable to capture votes from moderates, independents as a whole, and undecided voters. On top of that, most of the GOP is defecting from Trump’s leadership and are electing to vote for Clinton or to not vote at all. If these trends continue, Trump will find it very difficult to compete in an election, which is saying a lot considering how universally disliked Clinton is as a candidate.
