Clinton Leads the Democrats, Sanders Slumps
The latest poll by Monmouth University has placed Hillary Clinton at the top of the Democrats. Bernie Sanders took a major step back in this poll, while Joe Biden maintained his position.
Which Democrat do you want to win the nomination?
- Hillary Clinton – 42%
- Joe Biden – 22%
- Bernie Sanders – 20%
Clinton is still the candidate to beat. This week she released a detailed campaign finance reform initiative, something that earned her praise from voters who often labelled her as a Wall Street crony. She wouldn’t make a great president, but she has a respectable political record and a devout following.
Sanders has been struggling in recent polls. His campaign is organic and he is a man who fights for what he believes in. Sadly, some of his views are often classified as socialist and these false labels hurt his chances at being elected. Sanders has the right ideas in mind, but lacks a plan of action to secure the votes to put them into practice.
Biden is still a popular candidate and he will significantly rise in the standings if he announces that he is running. His lack of commitment to a campaign is hurting his ranking, but the vast majority of Democrats like Biden and would vote for him should he decide to run for president.
