The latest on the presidential horse race.

Clinton Narrowly Beats Trump by 4 in Rasmussen Reports Poll

According to the latest numbers by Rasmussen Reports, Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump by 4 percent.

Which presidential candidate would you vote for?

  • Hillary Clinton – 42%
  • Donald Trump – 38%
  • Gary Johnson – 9%
  • Jill Stein – 2%

Clinton continues to lead Trump in the majority of polls, but has lost to him in a few recent polls. None the less, she holds the lead when it comes to statistical averages and it appears as if it will stay this way for a little longer.

Both Johnson and Stein are candidates that have no chance of winning the election, but they are both being compared to Ralph Nader and the way in which he helped George W. Bush win in 2000.

For the Republicans, Johnson is a candidate that provides them with a backup option to Trump. While his policies and values certainly differ from a traditional Republican, he provides voters with an out and a candidate who they can vote for and not feel bad for abstaining.

On the other side of the fence, the same thing can be said for Stein. She may be polling worse than Johnson, but she is having the same effect on Clinton’s numbers. Without a doubt, Clinton would love to reclaim the few percentage points that are being stolen by Stein.

For now, the polls will remain stagnant and Clinton and Trump will continue to poll close together. The next major shift in the polls should take place around the time of the first presidential debate on Sept. 26.
