Clinton Regains Lead Over Trump, Johnson Continues to Pester
The latest general election poll by Monmouth University placed Hillary Clinton 7 points ahead of Donald Trump, while Gary Johnson managed to pull in 7 percent of the vote.
Which presidential candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 46%
- Donald Trump – 39%
- Gary Johnson – 7%
Trump continues to reduce his chances at getting elected. Up until the last week or two, Trump based his entire campaign on his immigration promises. However, last week, he completely flipped his policies over and hinted at a potential softening of his stance. On Wednesday, he is expected to deliver a definitive immigration speech in Phoenix, Arizona, which could make or break his campaign and lose him a lot of support if he pushes forward with a softened immigration stance.
Clinton continues to play the slow game and has started firing off insults at Trump through the media in the recent weeks. Luckily for Clinton, Trump has provided her with so much ammunition that she will be able to attack him for months to come. In addition, Clinton should be able to handle Trump in a debate, seeing as she better versed in policy and has a better understanding of American politics and what the voters want to hear.
Johnson continues to trouble Trump, stealing valuable support that he needs to challenge Clinton. The majority of Johnson’s supporters are more than likely Republicans that refuse to vote for either Trump or Clinton and see Johnson as the only sensible solution in the upcoming election.
