Clinton Way Ahead in Illinois, Trump Tops Cruz

Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump won top honors in the latest Illinois poll by WeAskAmerica.

Which Republican candidate would you vote for?

  • Donald Trump – 33%
  • Ted Cruz – 20%
  • John Kasich – 18%
  • Marco Rubio – 11%

Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?

  • Hillary Clinton – 62%
  • Bernie Sanders – 25%

This is an essential state for both Bernie Sanders and Clinton. A lot of delegates are up for grabs in Illinois and Clinton’s early lead heading into the primary is important and will more than likely transfer into a huge victory for her campaign.

If Sanders loses Illinois by a large margin, it is safe to say that his campaign is probably over. Even though he is holding on and stealing the odd state from Clinton, her mass of delegates continues to grow and he is running out of time.

Trump’s lead in the state isn’t huge, but it’s enough to secure a win. Ted Cruz has virtually no appeal in the state as the majority of voters aren’t interested in his religious zealotry. As for the other Republican candidates, neither John Kasich or Marco Rubio will accomplish much and it is highly likely that they will drop their campaigns after concluding the primaries for their home states.
