Indiana: Sanders Catches Clinton, Trump Dominates
The latest poll out of Indiana by NBC/WSJ/Marist has revealed that Donald Trump is still dominating the Republican Party and that Hillary Clinton is blowing her lead.
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 49%
- Ted Cruz – 34%
- John Kasich – 13%
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 50%
- Bernie Sanders – 46%
While Bernie Sanders cannot overcome the delegate lead that Hillary Clinton has built, his popularity in the polls shows that voters view him as a more acceptable candidate. Too bad for Sanders, his supporters didn’t turn out to the polls and he lost to a more efficient Clinton campaign.
At this point, barring a miracle indictment of Clinton, she will take the Democratic nomination. In a general election, she should be able to beat Trump, but there are a lot of unknowns considering her general unpopularity and the bitterness of Sander’s supporters. If a perfect storm were to brew, Trump may be able to challenge Clinton.
Trump has secured the Republican Party nomination. The only hope Ted Cruz and John Kasich have is if the GOP tries to contest the convention. However, if that scenario were to play out, the GOP would be dead come election time as voter confidence would be at an all-time low. The GOP establishment will have to come to terms with Trump or else they will get destroyed in the election.
