Iowa: Clinton Maintains, Cruz Rises

The latest round of Iowa polls by Qunnipiac, Loras College, and PPP have revealed that Hillary Clinton and Ted Cruz top their respective parties.

Quinnipiac (D)

  • Hillary Clinton – 51%
  • Bernie Sanders – 40%

Loras College (D)

  • Hillary Clinton – 59%
  • Bernie Sanders – 27%

PPP (D)

  • Hillary Clinton – 52%
  • Bernie Sanders – 34%

Loras College (R)

  • Ted Cruz – 30%
  • Donald Trump – 23%
  • Marco Rubio – 11%
  • Ben Carson – 11%
  • Jeb Bush – 6%

PPP (R)

  • Donald Trump – 28%
  • Ted Cruz – 25%
  • Marco Rubio – 14%
  • Ben Carson – 10%
  • Jeb Bush – 7%

When it comes to the Democrats, it is almost safe to say that Clinton has won the nomination and Sanders is nothing but a bump in the road at this point. This is not to denounce Sander’s campaign. Instead, it is a compliment to Clinton and how strong of a campaign she has run so far during this election cycle.

For the Republicans, Cruz continues to climb and challenge Trump for the top spot. Both Cruz and Trump are pretty radical when compared to a more sensible candidate like Marco Rubio. Not surprisingly, Cruz and Trump are both anti-Muslim and in favor of  carpet bombing the Middle East until “the desert glows” and they do not shy away from radically charged rhetoric.

Rubio is still in the mix, but he is struggling to have his voice heard over the chest pounding of party baboons Cruz and Trump. If Americans wise up to the dangerous rhetoric of Cruz and Trump and how un-electable both candidates are, only then can we expect Rubio to rise.
