National Poll: Trump and Clinton Lead the Way
If you support Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, the results of the latest ABC/Washington Post survey will satisfy you. Trump built up a 10 point leader over Ben Carson, while Clinton defeated Sanders by 26 points.
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 32%
- Ben Carson – 22%
- Marco Rubio – 11%
- Ted Cruz – 8%
- Jeb Bush – 6%
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 60%
- Bernie Sanders – 34%
Trump has managed to solidify his lead after having it disappear for a few weeks. Carson, Rubio, and Cruz are still threats to him in the polls, but he perfectly capitalized on the fear mongering caused by the Paris terror attacks and he used it to advance his immigration platform and racist policies.
As for candidates like Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina, they have no chance of climbing the polls and will most likely call it quits before the nomination process is concluded. Fiorina was popular for a few weeks following the earlier debates, but that support has all but evaporated as she has been exposed as candidate with little talent that has nothing to offer beyond the Republican stereotypes.
Sanders struggled to maintain parity with Clinton in this poll. He has been viciously preaching his left-wing platform, trying to capture voters and to convince them that he is the best choice for progressives. Clinton is far more centrist and closer to Republican values, while Sanders offers an agenda that is truly focused on restoring the middle class and keeping the United States out of wasteful conflicts in the Middle East.
