North Carolina Republican Primary and Head to Head Democrat Rankings

A new poll outlining the popularity of the various Democrat and Republican candidates in North Carolina has been released by Public Policy Polling.

The Republicans:

  • Donald Trump – 16%
  • Scott Walker – 12%
  • Jeb Bush – 12%
  • Mike Huckabee – 11%
  • Marco Rubio – 9%
  • Ben Carson – 9%
  • Rand Paul – 7%
  • Ted Cruz – 6%
  • Chris Christie – 5%
  • Carly Fiorina – 4%
  • Rick Perry – 2%

Donald Trump led the Republicans by 4 percent. He was trailed by Scott Walker and Jeb Bush who registered 12 percent of the vote, Mike Huckabee had 11 percent, and Marco Rubio and Ben Carson had 9 percent. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz trailed in at the back of the pack with 7 percent and 6 percent respectfully.

“Three weeks after his candidacy announcement Donald Trump just seems to be getting stronger,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “It may just be a matter of time before the novelty wears off, but it hasn’t yet.”

Trump scores well with older male Republicans who tend to have conservative views towards immigration. Bush is still a realistic candidate, but he appears moderate when compared to Trump.

In comparison to the Democrats, Trump still trails Clinton 47 to 44. However, head to head polls had Carson, Rubio, and Huckabee ahead. In addition, Fiorina split the polls 45 to 45.
