Sanders and Trump Emerge Victorious in New Hampshire
The New Hampshire primary proved decisive for the campaigns of both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.
- Donald Trump – 35.1%
- John Kasich – 15.9%
- Ted Cruz – 11.6%
- Jeb Bush – 11.1%
- Marco Rubio – 10.6%
- Bernie Sanders – 60%
- Hillary Clinton – 38.4%
For once, the experts were right in their predictions for a 2016 primary outcome. Both Sanders and Trump dominated the pack, slaughtering their opponents in the process.
Sanders victory in New Hampshire was huge and shows that he has arrived as a legitimate candidate for the Democrats. While he was expected to win the state, he won it in memorable fashion, nearly doubling Clinton’s tally. Clinton figured she would lose New Hampshire, but she can’t even try to spin it off and say that Sanders under performed, because he absolutely annihilated her.
Trump won the primary handily and demonstrated that Cruz’s win in Iowa may have been a fluke. This is the fuel that Trump needed to keep going and we can expect to see more classic Trump as we head deeper into the primaries and push towards super Tuesday.
The biggest disappointment in this poll had to be Marco Rubio, who failed to gain any traction on his previous success in Iowa. Most of the other candidates finished where they were expected and there were no other major surprises to report.
