Sanders and Trump Lead the Way in West Virginia
The latest poll by Public Polling Policy for West Virginia has revealed that Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders hold respectable leads in the state.
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 61%
- Ted Cruz (out) – 22%
- John Kasich – 14%
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Bernie Sanders – 45%
- Hillary Clinton – 37%
Tuesday night brought some interesting developments to the election cycle. Ted Cruz officially suspended his campaign, leaving only Trump and John Kasich and Sanders managed to beat Hillary Clinton in Indiana, keeping his struggling campaign barely alive.
Now that Trump is the presumed candidate for the Republican Party, the GOP will need to get behind him or they will quickly sacrifice the election before it even starts. Kasich will not be able to contest the convention with only one primary win in his home state of Ohio. Trump is the candidate going forward and the GOP must now focus their strategy on winning the general election.
For the Democrats, Sanders continues to keep his campaign’s hopes alive. While it looks slim and the odds are completely against him, Sanders is determined to contest the convention and to beat Clinton by any means. In reality, Sanders only chance at keeping his campaign alive relies on him collecting as many delegates as he can leading up to the convention and he must score a decisive victory in California.
