Ted Cruz Pulls Ahead in Iowa, Trump Wins New Hampshire
The Republican race is starting to heat up. The latest poll by CBS News/YouGov revealed that Ted Cruz has taken the lead over longtime frontrunner Donald Trump.
- Ted Cruz – 40%
- Donald Trump – 31%
- Marco Rubio – 12%
- Ben Carson – 6%
- Donald Trump – 32%
- Ted Cruz – 14%
- Marco Rubio – 13%
- Chris Christie – 11%
The Republican Party is down to three candidates as this point. The big two are Cruz and Trump, while Marco Rubio rounds out the trio.
Cruz performed well in Iowa, but he struggles to topple Trump in other states and nationally. He is a legitimate candidate that has the ability to win the GOP nomination, but it will require him to focus in on a specific platform and demonstrate to voters that he can be equally as crazy as Trump.
As for Trump, he is the biggest enigma to ever exist in politics. While this is a lofty statement, it is the truth. He knows next to nothing about policy, he is clearly racist, and his entire platform consists of shallow one-liners. Yet, voters are interested in him because he is campaigning on the promise that he will provide real change and his current approach is shattering the notions of our politically correct society.
It remains to be seen whether Trump can lead or not, but as it stands, voters don’t care, and they are happy voting for a guy that is so radically different than traditional politicians.
