Trump and Clinton Top the Polls in Oklahoma
The latest round of polls by The Oklahoman for Oklahoma have placed Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump at the top of their respective parties.
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 44%
- Bernie Sanders – 28%
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 30%
- Ted Cruz – 25%
- Marco Rubio – 21%
Clinton came out on top in a state that she should win. However, Bernie Sanders is a momentum candidate and if Iowa and New Hampshire are any indication, he has a lot of room to rally and start winning over voters.
The most important part of the election cycle is ahead of us and Sanders has demonstrated that he is a legitimate candidate and ready to challenge Clinton for the Democratic nomination. There is still a lot for him to do and he will still need to shatter the super delegate system that is currently favoring Clinton. Regardless, Sanders is a much more popular candidate and he doesn’t carry around the same level of baggage that his opponent does. If he can find a way to court the African-American vote, Clinton will be in a lot of trouble.
Trump is still the kings of the Republicans. Ted Cruz has the potential to perform very well in Oklahoma due to the state’s intense devotion to religion. If Trump tries to pretend that he’s religious again, he will suffer in Oklahoma. In reality, Trump needs to keep playing his game and stick to what has worked for him in the past, like hammering home his anti-immigration and anti-Muslim platform.
