Trump Builds a Narrow Lead over Clinton
The latest general election poll by Gravis has placed Donald Trump ahead of Hillary Clinton by two points.
Which presidential candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 51%
- Hillary Clinton – 49%
Another poll, another lead change. In this poll, Trump managed to beat Clinton by a slim margin. In various polls over the last few days, the two candidates have traded the lead numerous times and nothing is certain at this point.
Trump had a predictable Republican National Convention. He was officially declared the Republican Party’s candidate heading into November’s election. He won over the hearts of conservatives, with fear-inducing speeches, and yet, he was ridiculed by members of his own party, like Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
Trump’s version of the Republican Party is a shaky one and he is betting most of the election on his ability to tap into the anger of American voters. His strategy is bold and could pay off if he is able to do so, but he is betting all of his political chips on one demographic.
As for Clinton, she is laying the groundwork for a progressive political platform. Borrowing from her former opponent Bernie Sanders, Clinton is looking to win voters over by appealing to them through education and healthcare policies. However, many voters still have trust issues with Clinton and view her as a dishonest candidate. Time will tell if she will be able to win over the American people and become the first female president in the history of the United States.
