Trump Tops the Republican Party, Carson Slumps
The latest Republican national poll by Quinnipiac has revealed that Donald Trump is in the lead of the Republican Party. Coming in second was Marco Rubio, and tying for third were Ben Carson and Ted Cruz.
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 27%
- Marco Rubio – 17%
- Ben Carson – 16%
- Ted Cruz – 16%
- Jeb Bush – 5%
Trump, despite his media disasters, continues to lead the Republicans. In past elections, a candidate acting like Trump has would have been crucified. This hasn’t happened to Trump yet and he has given voters every reason to push him away.
Voters are apathetic towards the current political system and many of them view Trump as a way to break the status quo and to vote in a politician who doesn’t care about being politically correct.
Carson has been struggling to build momentum in the polls for several weeks now. He had a few foreign policy blunders and hasn’t provided anything of substance since his strong performances in the early elections. Trump has also worked hard to bash Carson and to bring out his flaws.
The two sleeper candidates for the Republicans are both Rubio and Cruz. Both of them have served in the Senate, understand the political system, and are closely linked to the GOP establishment. Should Trump fall, expect to see either of these two rapidly increase in the polls and replace him at the top.
