Unpredictable at Best: Trump and Clinton Break Even
The latest general election poll by the LA Times/USC Tracking has placed Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton at a near tie.
Which presidential candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 45%
- Donald Trump – 44%
When you adjust for the margin of error, this poll was a statistical tie. Clinton continues to drop the ball against Trump, blowing a respectable lead, and proving that she is ineffective at capitalizing on a lead.
Clinton’s recent comments about Trump’s supporters being a “basket of deplorables” will not be taken lightly by the American public. No matter how you address it, she essentially called over 10 million Americans deplorable and simplified them as a band of racist and sexist individuals. Even though Trump has made a living mocking anything and everything in this campaign, this is not the type of behavior you expect from Clinton and she knows better than to engage Trump at his level.
The best thing Trump could do at this point to try and beat Clinton would be to try and become more presidential and to drop the bully tactics that he has relied on so much throughout this campaign. If he could somehow make Clinton look like the aggressor, he could slowly pivot to the center and create a legitimate campaign.
